The premier attraction of Ravello are the gardens belonging to the old private villas. One of the most beautful is Villa Cimbrone. At the spring of 1939 Greta Garbo decided to rent both the Villa and the garden to her self and her lover the conductor Leopold Stokowski.

The Garbo Society in Hogsby was founded on 3.2.2001 and it´s an independent idealistic association, open to every interested person.
The Society has the domicile in Hogsby and manages also The Garbo Exhibition, situated at Storgatan 26 in Hogsby.
The intentions and purposes are to:
* Serve as a meeting-point for people interested in Garbo
* Collect and issue information concerning Greta Garbo
* Develop The Garbo Exhibition in Hogsby
* Expand the interest for film as an expression of culture
* Be a community above the generations
* Work for the foundation of a Garbo stipendiary fund

Greta Garbo´s mother, her grandmother and several generations before them were all born in the Hogsby area.
The mother, Anna Lovisa Johansdotter, was born on 10.9.1872 in Lillsjödal, Drageryd. The father, Karl Alfred Gustafsson, was born on 11.5.1871 in Norra Sunhult in the parish of Frinnaryd. They married in Stockholm and got three children: Sven in 1898, Alva in 1903 and then Greta who was born in the evening on 18.9.1905 at the South Maternity Hospital in Stockholm.
Greta Garbo died on 15.4.1990 in New York. The internment took place on 16.6.1999 at the Skogskyrkogarden Cemetery in Stockholm.
